Quadrant Rail Consulting (QRC) supported the Canberra LPRDE project, a critical enabler for the city’s light rail expansion. The project involved procurement of five new LRVs, retrofit of 14 existing vehicles with CAF’s onboard battery system (OESS), and expansion of the depot facilities to accommodate the upgraded fleet—forming the foundation for the future Stage 2A wire-free extension.
QRC initially led technical and operational interface management between multiple contractors and suppliers, including CAF and the D&C contractor, and addressed complex infrastructure, maintenance, and system compatibility challenges. We were later appointed Project Director to finalise the transaction, delivering commercial and technical schedules and executing contracts. Our involvement reduced project costs by over 20% and helped de-risk the rollout of new technology by leveraging international best practices
