Quadrant Rail Consulting (QRC) played a critical role in the dynamic testing and commissioning phase of Cross River Rail—Queensland’s largest rail infrastructure project. The 10.2 km line, featuring 5.9 km of twin tunnels and four new underground stations, required a shift in approach when CPB Contractors were asked to manage testing and energisation responsibilities under a varied Rail Safety Accreditation.
QRC was engaged to lead the accreditation variation effort. We reviewed and updated the Safety Management System, led risk assessments, set up a temporary control centre and maintenance regime, and coordinated stakeholder interfaces with Queensland Rail, ONRSR, and multiple alliances. Our team rapidly mobilised key personnel, developed a staged configuration approach for safety approvals, and submitted the required notification of change ahead of schedule—de-risking the program and enabling safe train movements through the tunnels.
